Wow. How nice to make fun of vegans instead of using your brains for once second and thinking about the pain animals go through so you can eat them. And no, plants can’t feel pain and they are not sentient. So there is not “chekmate” and this isn’t funny. It just shows how pathetic and insensitive you’all are. Now go eat your disgusting animals products and continue pretending that you do no harm because you’d need a heart of care and feel guilty and you don’t have one. Just do that without bothering those who are doing something to help animals.

Omnivores are inferior to anemic vegan nutbars, part #3547547855.

Hu's On First

There have been some studies indicating that slimemolds (which are NOT animals, but giant amoebas) actually possess memory and some form of intelligence. So sentience isn't limited to animals.

How do you know plants are not sentient? There's at least one expert who vehemently disagrees: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/radical-conservation/2015/aug/04/plants-intelligent-sentient-book-brilliant-green-internet

Don't make innocent plants suffer for your spieciesist prejudice and lack of imagination!

Uh...I think you're the guys who go all preachy around the other 95 % of us who are omnivores. Your idea of "doing something to help animals" is to sneer at the rest of us and berate us for doing what comes naturally.

9/11/2017 2:41:14 PM

I don't know about some of the rebuttals to the OP. lots of animals clearly have the self awareness level of human children but when have you seen a flower cry?

9/11/2017 2:52:04 PM

What about the pain that animals go through when the are hunted down by a carnivorous animal in the wild and eaten alive?

Dr. Hannibal Lecter doesn't eat animals. [/I'm A Humanitarian]

Sancerre, Pinot Noir: or a nice Chianti, to serve with liver: Vegan's...?!

With Fava Beans, of course. Thpt-thpt-thpt-thpt-thpt-thpt-thpt-thpt! >:D

What does Dr Lecter have to do with anything?

9/11/2017 6:47:14 PM

Thinking Allowed

Just do that without bothering those who are doing something to help animals.

...and that is...?

If that means being on the internet and whining about non-vegans trying to make them feel guilty, it's about as effective as prayer for a dying cat.

9/11/2017 6:58:30 PM

Skide

A lot of animals aren`t sentient either, so would you care for those?

Some say that plants react to outer stimuli.

Not all animals feel pain. Crawfish don't really scream when you put them in boiling water, for example; it's air escaping from under their exoskeleton.

I do have a heart; I can hear and feel it beating away in my chest. Feelings come from the brain, not from the muscle inside the ribcage, you silly bint.

9/12/2017 2:17:45 AM

Indicible

Did the vegan monsters ever feel the pain of the poor carrot they are cutting into pieces? Have they ever paid attention to the cries of pain of the tomato when it is on the chopping block?

Jokes aside, plants suffer, too. Let's not pretend vegans are any superior to omnivores: they are just a bit more selective about what they make suffer.

9/12/2017 3:38:30 AM

Now go eat your disgusting animals products

OK.

Everything is ripe for parody and satire, good or bad. I've laughed at (tasteful, witty) jokes poking fun at feminists. Actually, I'd love it if somebody made a satire of agnosticism.

Heck, for that matter, why don't vegans stick to shellfish in general? They have the thinking ability of a rock and so cannot suffer.

Azereaux

So I guess all of those carnivores in nature don't have hearts either, eh? And yes, plants do have a pain mechanism. Just because you want to deny it to feel better doesn't make it not so.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have breakfast to attend to.

9/12/2017 5:52:54 AM

If God didn't want us to eat animals, He would not have made them out of meat.

@pyro

Well, if the vegans think eating pig is such a bad thing: and the survivors of Flight 571 had to eat Long Pig in order to stay Alive, then where does this leave these retards...?!

Especially when, like I say, Dr. Hannibal Lecter doesn't eat animals: which is what Vegans want after all.

It's something called a 'Paradox': an alien concept to them.

9/12/2017 8:06:28 AM

@Skide? witch animals are not sentient? I'm pretty sure the entire mammalian order at least, is. and remember, there is a there is a difference between sapience and sentience. humans are the only sapient species as far as we know but not the only sentient one.

and just because plants feel pain, doesn't mean they have emotions.

Humans are animals.

Shellfish, sea sponges, insects, worms? I'm almost certain that nobody's definition of sentience will count them. Going farther would mean defining that term, which has been famously difficult...

Admittedly, I'm no fan of factory farms, circuses or other industries that cause needless suffering. That said, trying to make people feel guilty about eating meat is a waste of time and energy. All you succeed in doing is driving a wedge between you and the other person, which can make things awkward as hell at family gatherings. If you're even invited, that is. Not many people want to be around someone who badgers them at every opportunity.

There is a time, place and way to discuss these things. You may have had two out of three there, but the second you went full-on 'in yo face', you lost the person you were speaking to. Over a goofy internet post.

A sense of humor. You're going to need one if you're going to have positive interactions with your fellow humans, kiddo.

There are plants that kill and eat insects and birds.
And the worms will have us to supper after all.
