Quote# 16736

You mix Evolution and evolution, which are two seperate, albiet connected, things. The Theory of Evolution is that man evolved from lower primates blah blah blah. To follow the Scientific method, and therefore become science, you need to be able to replicate it, which has not been accomplished and not for a lack of trying. Evolution (lower case e, capital for grammatical reasons only) does occur, but it is not proof of Evolution. The better word would be adaptation.

You know, why don't you go back to your Legos, instead of mangling definitions and making wrongheaded, senseless arguments?

11/5/2006 7:19:03 PM

Hensley

Evolution and evolution?

Since when does the capitalization of one letter change the entire definition of a word?

11/5/2006 7:29:27 PM

JustinGG

Evolution is not proof of evolution? Brilliant.

Just shows what can be achieved when you really put your mind to it.

But evolution has been proven. Just look at all the bacteria and fruitflies they force evolved. And after that it's just extrapolating the...

Fuck it, no way he'll actually read it and the people here already know it.

\"Evolution (lower case e, capital for grammatical reasons only) does occur, but it is not proof of Evolution.\"

WTF?

I think he's trying to say that natural selection isn't proof of \"Evolution\", but still...if his biology is as bad as his english, I don't see much point in giving his views any time.

Or the fact that you have NO IDEA of science. Let´s talk about something else.

It plays with leggos??????and debates reality.....oh shit we are in trouble.

Brain_In_A_Jar

Bah, lego - fun for a while, but so limited. Now Meccano, real Meccano from the Binns Road factory and not that modern crap, that's where it's at.

I think that's the Church/church differentiation shit. Church is people, church is building.

Both are stupid and so is LegoAddict.

Papabear

Evolution is different from Evolution, which actually has a lower case \"e\" but is capitalized but is still actually lower case? WTF?

The Fundie word redefinition project marches on.

Why is it that we should care what someone addicted to legos thinks about the ToE, or anything else for that matter?

LegoAddict is a genious.

He is trying to confuse the thinking people with double speak. While the thinking people are busy trying to figure out what he just said he can sneak in the back and teach the kids Creationism.

Flawless plan.

There are rivers but no Rivers!

Put down the fucking Lego, it's too good for you.

11/5/2006 10:35:18 PM

Hadanelith

Go back to playing with basic bricks; it's all you're really good for.

noself:
There are rivers but no Rivers!

Now that's just patently untrue! Everyone knows there are Rivers, but rivers are a myth :)

Lego is too good for this being. Arise, my plastic minions. Turn his own toys against him. Hunt!

Oh dear. It seems I was not informed of this.

My whole life is now meaningless.

Would you run that capital - lower case thing by me again?

11/6/2006 12:13:39 AM

Ed

Hensley: Actually, God and god are a pretty good example. Capitalized God's the monothetistic variety, while lower case god is a member of a pantheon.

But yeah, this guy's an idiot.

Here's a good quote by LegoAddict about entropy -- much like 2005's post of the year:

\"But if you don't believe in an outside force (a God or other being which has the ability to create), then it's really no difference. If there is a God, then he can introduce more energy into the system and reverse entropy. If you believe there is not god, then the clause really doesn't matter (unless, of course, you see another way of introducing more energy that I haven't mentioned) \"

Gadren, it would appear he's now claiming he's talking about the universe, not just earth. Seems he's found life elsewhere!

The Jamo

So you agree that evolution is speciation through adaptation yet you say that adaptation is not evidence for evolution. What the fuck are you talking about?

David D.G.

Argumentum ad Capitalization? Bizarre.

LegoAddict, this is a wonderful little distinction you've asserted here. Of course, I'm afraid it has absolutely no grounding in reality (typographical or otherwise).
